Mobridge
is a city of approximately 3,500 located in Walworth County in north-central South Dakota. It sits on the banks of the Missouri River near Lake Oahe and is called "a sportsman's paradise." Lake Oahe offers excellent fishing and is especially famous for its Walleye. Many national and regional tournaments are held at Mobridge each year. Lake Oahe also offers smallmouth and river bass, catfish and northern pike. Besides fishing, the lake is great for boating, water skiing and jet skiing. Mobridge isn't just for fishing, however, it also has golf, lighted tennis courts, the Lewis and Clark hiking trail along the shoreline, nightlife and casinos. Other attractions include the Klein Museum, where you will see photographs and writings of Sitting Bull, the great Sioux Chief. A large granite bust marks the final resting place of Sitting Bull, overlooking the wide Missouri River and Lake Oahe. For such a small town, Mobridge has something for everyone - places of historical interest, outdoor recreation, shopping, great museums and restaurants.

North Central South Dakota has a four-season, interior continental climate with cold winters and hot summers. The average temperature in January is 12 degrees F and the average temperature in July is 74 degrees F. Precipitation is light to moderate in the summertime, but severe thunderstorms are possible. Periods of drought are possible in summer when the temperature may climb to 100 degrees F for days at a time. Seventy percent of the time, the skies over central South Dakota are clear and visibility is more than forty-five miles. Other severe weather conditions possible in north central South Dakota can include tornadoes, hailstorms, high winds and blizzards.
